Dear Members of the MDAA: Governor Patrick signed into Law the attached bill (Click Here). Although it is effective July 1, 2009 the Board of Registration in Dentistry has not yet established all of the requirements for registration of dental assistants. This Law is going through what is called technical amendments and will not look like what you see in the end... So please know that this Law will under go technical amendments. This is a huge step for dental assistants. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you. You have supported our quest by contacting legislators through emails, phone calls and testimony. We also have to acknowledge the work of the MDS. Although this legislation was filed under their banner, they included the MDAA in the planning and amendment stages. It was a TEAM effort. Please share this news with other dental assistant colleagues. Inform then that this is what the Massachusetts Dental Assistants Association is all about, helping dental assistants move forward with pride in their profession. Sincerely, Claudia D. Gauthier, CDA, BS Legislative Chairman MDAA Executive Secretary
